about

Roger Rabbit. Just after Judge Doom (SPOILER ALERT!) gets dipped. The walls come down, everyplace is ToonTown, and that's their theme song.

Kid Bastien played this song all the time, with lyrics modified to describe the scene at Grossman's Tavern. Chuck Clarke's lyrics are modified again, and seem to me especially relevant today. We get this song of course from Kid Thomas Valentine, and Ed Washington's lyrics there are completely different once again.

The common thread seems to be, "Take it easy. Like a beer?"

lyrics

Smile, darn ya, smile.
The world's not such a bad place after all.
Smile, darn ya, smile.
Relax and have beer and have a ball!

Things are not as bad as they are painted
So shake your neighbour's hand and get acquainted.
Let's do this in style.
Smile, darn ya, smile.
