Professor Alex Bradford had a choir at the Abyssinian Baptist Church in New Jersey that had to be heard to be believed. And he was the wildest of the bunch. Little Richard patterned his outrageous flamboyant vocal style after Bradford. Ray Charles, Bob Marley and many more were among his followers. So are we!
The album has a slightly shorter version than we would normally do. The full lyrics are below.
lyrics
I gotta shout it!
Hallelujah!
I couldn't keep it to myself!
What the Lord has done for me!
You oughtta been there when he saved my soul!
You oughtta been there when he wrote my name on the roll
I was walking and talking, I was singing and shouting
What the Lord has done for me!
I gotta jump up!
And shout for joy!
I couldn't keep it to myself!
What the Lord has done for me!
You oughtta been there when he saved my soul!
You oughtta been there when he wrote my name on the roll
I was walking and talking, I was singing and shouting
What the Lord has done for me!
I gotta stand up!
And testify!
I couldn't keep it to myself!
What the Lord has done for me!
You oughtta been there when he saved my soul!
That Friday morning, when he wrote my name on the roll
I was walking and talking, I was singing and shouting
What the Lord has done for me!

I happened upon Tuba Skinny and Erika L buskin’ in New Orleans on YouTube! I have Loved them ever since and play their albums daily! As a musician and band member in Canada, I can say that Tuba Skinny and their soulful renditions touched my soul in ways that have uplifted my life. We in the “great White North” can only dream of making New Orleans jazz like T S. Long Live Tuba Skinny and may their music become world wide for the enjoyment of all!! Davey1
